The Fiji Football Association has confirmed that despite winning the election during the 87th Fiji FA Ordinary Congress, convicted drug dealer Aiyaz Mohammed Musa Umarji, who was deported from New Zealand after being released from Auckland Prison, is not Fiji FA’s Vice President West.
While speaking to fijivillage News, Fiji FA CEO Mohammed Yusuf says they are fighting the case in the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland after Musa appealed the decision by the Fiji FA Governance Committee, which had deemed him ineligible to contest the elections.
Yusuf says despite winning the election, Musa is not acting as or declared Vice President until the Court of Arbitration hears the case from both sides’ lawyers and the three-member panel of judges makes its decision.
He says a provisional order of the Court was granted under very strict conditions.
Yusuf says their lawyers are in Switzerland, and the international governing body for association football, FIFA, is assisting and supporting the case, defending the statute of the Fiji FA.
The CEO says they do not know how long this process will take.
He also confirms that Nazia Ali is still the Fiji FA’s West Vice President.
